and the giants won big last night. there may be street closures around downtown san francisco. we'll talk about that coming up. >> it was a big night all the way around. the giants are back on top in the baseball world. >> completed the world series sweeper last night winning 4 games to 3 in 10 innings. while most of the celebrations were peaceful. some turned violent. a number of fires were set in the mission district. the damage that was left behind after that big winner last night. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. there are piles of debris here near the intersection of 16th and mission. and we've seen the clean up has already begun. take a look at the violence. thousands of fans fell out on the streets after the game. some fans started setting fires. and police were dressed in full riot gear. we heard reports of firefighters having to be escorted to fight these fires. you can see those flames from up high. just before 1:00, some fans were still out here in the streets and officers told them they were unlawfully assembling and they needed to leave. at this point, one arrest has been

which cities are in the running to host a super bowl in 2016 or 2017. leaders from san francisco down to santa clara have been working to the 49ers to put in a bid to host the game. if hosted, san francisco would be reportedly the official host city and would have an event leading up to the game. some fans in the south bay who live there have mixed feelings. >> that would an little weird but i can see why because there's a lot more things to do in san francisco rather than santa clara. it -- it will be a little weird. >> reporter: the santa clara mayor told us that he believes his city will economically benefit as well. the stadium here in santa clara is scheduled to open for the 2014 season. but according to league rules it can't host until 2016. the only previous super bowl in the bay area was at stanford stadium in 1985. now we put in a call to the 49ers spokesperson and are hoping to hear back from him but we haven't just yet. reporting live from santa clara, janine de la vega, ktvu channel 2 news. >> thank you, janine. >>> 7:06. it's a little foggy out there. >> yeah. >> we'll ha

francisco -- alex savidge is live at san francisco international airport airport with the very latest on cancellations there. >> reporter: good morning, yes. all the way across the country, sfo being impacted by sandy. just got an impact -- just got an update. a total of 150 flights have been cancelled -- canceled. here is a look at the board this morning. there is a flight to washington, d.c. weather cancellations are being felt for many east coast destinations. >> sfo to six key cities, boston, philadelphia, new york, newark, washington, d.c. and baltimore. any one trying to get to those cities may have to bait several days. most of the -- may have to wait several days. other flights are feeling the effect, american, jetblue, virgin, u.s. airways and delta. the airlines are trying to book people on other flights. this storm is causing major problems causing a significant effect on the west coast. it's difficult to say how long the cancellations are gonna extend to, obviously all of the frights are -- flights are canceled for today. i think it's reasonable to expect some cancellation
